ASHS Update – Moving to Level 3
20/09/21

Kia ora whānau,

As you will have heard, Auckland is moving to Level Three at 11.59pm on Tuesday 21st September. This email is a reminder that Albany Senior High School will remain closed at Level Three. We will continue to deliver our teaching, learning and assessments online until the end of term.

We may, however, be in a position to facilitate drive through drop offs of practical work for marking and/or pick up of materials during Level Three. We will communicate any opportunities when we move to this level and we are clear about where the needs are.

More information about educational settings at the different levels are available here:  Education at Levels 1, 2 and 3

Changes to NCEA for 2021

MoE and NZQA are in the process of considering further Learning Recognition Credits for Auckland students. We will let you know if and when any further changes are made. In the meantime, we encourage our young people to work with their Tutor and teachers to meet their academic goals for 2021.

More information about Learning Recognition Credits is available here: NCEA and Learning Recognition Credits 2021

Learning Progress Snapshots and Learning Dialogues are coming!

By next Monday you will have received your young person’s Learning Progress Snapshot for Term Three. Tomorrow we be inviting our young people and whanau to participate in Virtual Learning Dialogues which will take place online from Wednesday-Friday next week. In order to make Tutors available to meet with each of their tutees and whanau we will be supporting our learners to work independently for the second half of next week. Everything they need for their learning will be available on their Google Classrooms.

Continuing to engage in online learning

We understand that as lockdown has stretched out it can be hard to maintain momentum with learning online. Please do your best to ensure your young person is sticking to their weekly routine as outlined below. They should be attending Google Meetings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning, as well as on Thursday morning for Tutorial. The latter part of the week is designed to be more self-directed and we encourage our students to take advantage of this flexibility to prioritise whatever learning and assessments are on top that week. We encourage our young people to give their learning one last push before they finish up for the term at the end of next week!

We have been so impressed with the rate of engagement and I want to take this opportunity to thank family and whanau for their support throughout lockdown! I know it is complex and busy time for everyone!!

Be kind.
Stay safe.
Stay home.
Wear a mask if going out!
We got this team!!
