Learners in the Create IT Impact Hub have been benefiting from a range of industry partnerships this year, gaining valuable feedback, mentorship and real-world insights from professionals working across the digital and technology sectors.
One of the hub’s key partnerships has been with Media Design School (MDS), whose expertise in game art, design and programming aligns closely with the interests and aspirations of many Create IT learners. MDS staff have been visiting the hub to provide professional feedback on student projects, helping learners refine their ideas while gaining a deeper understanding of industry expectations.
The partnership is set to continue throughout the year, with plans underway for learners to visit the MDS campus and experience first-hand the opportunities available within the creative technology sector.
The hub has also continued to benefit from the support of Impact mentor Jackson Keet, who brings extensive entrepreneurial experience through his successful business providing online research resources to tertiary institutions. Jackson regularly works alongside learners, sharing practical insights and helping students connect their projects to real-world applications.
In addition to mentoring, Jackson has become known for his morning boxing sessions, which have quickly become a favourite among learners. The sessions provide an energetic start to the day and help students feel focused, motivated and ready to learn.
More recently, Create IT learners had the opportunity to work with Zacc Muller, a Data Scientist at Amazon Web Services. Zacc generously spent time with students, providing thoughtful and practical feedback on their projects and sharing insights from his own career journey.
Experiences like these are a powerful example of what makes Impact Projects unique. By connecting with industry professionals, learners gain authentic feedback, build valuable networks, and develop a clearer understanding of the pathways available beyond school.
We are incredibly grateful to Media Design School, Jackson Keet and Zacc Muller for their ongoing support of Create IT and for helping bring learning to life for our learners.
