Measles update 5th May

Kia ora e te ASHS whānau,

I have attached the latest update from Te Whatu Ora.

At present, we still have a number of staff, who are all isolating, who either need their 2MMR vaccine evidence checked by the Ministry of Health or are awaiting blood test results to confirm immunity.  There are a small number of staff who are free to leave isolation because they were born before 1969 and are therefore considered immune. We should have more information about staff vaccination status tomorrow.

Over 600 of our students are confirmed as fully vaccinated based on the national immunisation database. Those students do not need to isolate. The rest of the students will need to continue to isolate until they either have their evidence checked or pass the 14-day isolation mark on Friday.

With all of this in play, we will need to do ‘Learning from Home’ on Monday to give us reasonable time to confirm the number of available staff moving forward.

Please support your young person to get online and engage with their classes on Monday! They should follow their normal Monday timetable.

At this stage, we have asked sports teams to not attend games until further notice.

I will send another update on Monday letting you know what is happening from Tuesday onwards. Like you, we are very keen to resume face-to-face teaching as soon as we can!

I want to thank both the Te Whatu Ora and the Ministry of Education for their guidance and massive thanks to our staff, students and community for your ongoing support.

The latest update from Te Whatu Ora is attached:

Nga mihi
