ASHS Update – Term Three, Week Six 29/08/21

Kia ora whānau

Well I guess it’s time to focus on keeping going and doing the best we can in lockdown. At this stage NZQA and the Ministry of Education are yet to confirm any Learning Recognition credits or further changes to NCEA targets, but when they do you can rest assured we will update you.

This week I am asking Tutor teachers to begin one to one check ins with each of their Year 13s and any school leavers. It is important that any students finishing up this year feel that they have a plan for achieving their goals and targets. I would also like to remind our young people and whanau that Craig Dyason (our Careers Advisor) is also available for Google Meets with any students wanting to discuss their pathways beyond school. Information about how to book these appointments is available here: https://sites.google.com/ashs.school.nz/careers

I would also like to remind any of our Year 11s and 12s who are returning next year that they have time on their sides! Whilst we will be supporting all of our young people to achieve their academic goals in 2021 we would also like to remind everyone that all learning continues next year and that what you achieve this year does not impact on your pathway at ASHS in 2022 and beyond.

In the meantime the best way to support your young person is help them to ensure they turn up for any scheduled Google Meetings and checking in to their Google Classrooms and inbox on a regular basis. As always, all the info needed is in the document linked below.
Be kind.
Stay safe.
Stay home.
Wear a mask if going out!
We got this team!!
