Parents and family

We know it is important for young people to have their parents and families involved in and supporting their learning. At Albany Senior High School we have an open door policy whereby you are welcome to come in at any time to discuss your young person's learning. We also develop strong links with parents and families in a number of different ways:

  • Tutors. Your tutor is your first point of contact with the school. Tutors are responsible for guiding the learning of their students and overseeing all aspects of their learning. If you have any question or concerns about school, you are encouraged to make contact with yout young person's tutor.
  • Learning Dialogues. Twice a year you will be invited to a learning dialogue to learn more about how your young person is achieving at school. The 20 minute dialogue is hosted by the student and will cover all aspects of their learning, including successes, challenges and goals for the months ahead.
  • Parent Portal. A great way to stay informed of your young person's progress is to access our Parent Portal (http://portal.ashs.school.nz/). This has up-to-date information on student progress and achievement, and is updated daily with new information. Your young person's tutor can give you a username and password.
