Research supports our view that students learn best when they feel valued and are actively engaged in their learning. Warm, positive relationships between teachers and students are essential for learners to thrive.

Young adults learn best when they:

• Know what they are learning and why.
• Connect their learning to real life situations.
• Have multiple opportunities to build on exisiting knowledge.
• Examine and use new knowledge.
• Have time to reflect on their learning.

UNESCO describes this process as:

• Learning to learn.
• Learning to do.
• Learning to be.
• Learning to live together.
